Lenny Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 How does this school look? http://www.dallaswingtsun.com/wing_tsun.htm I know you can’t tell much by a web sit but what’s your first impression with it. I’m gonna go visit it but I was just wondering if it at least looked/sounded like a good school. At the bottom of the web page it mentions Emin Boztepe. I don't know if it's affiliated with or the instructor was trained by or whatever with Emin Boztepe. It sounds like it focuses on all aspects, stand up, ground, etc... and that’s what I want without going to three different schools a week. I’m brand new to MA's and I’m in search of a good self defense style and I’m shopping around. Any input would be appreciated. While I have your expertise, how does Wing Tzun differ from Kung Fu? Or does it? Thanks for you help.
Muanh Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 HI You wanted to know if Wing Tzun is a good martial arts from a selfdefence point. The answer is yes i don't think you'll get a better one out there. And for emin boztepe he was ones part of the ewto but left it and started a own organisation ebmas (emin boztepe martial arts system). This is actually the same as wing tsun. I don't think he will be teaching you but you can get seminars from him and you will be amazed of what you see. I hope this helped Greetz Muanh
Nick_UKWC Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Kung Fu is a generic term, like Karate. Within Kung Fu there are many different styles, of which Wing Chun is one. "...or maybe you are carrying a large vicious dog in your pocket." -Scottnshelly
Shane Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 go check it out, see if they offer a free class and take it. I like all of my adults to sample my classes before they sign up and pay due to the fact that my training is not for everyone, and that is pretty much with all schools, what I might like you might dislike, so go check it out and if you have fun and feel your learning to defend yourself then stick with it and go from there. GOOD LUCK A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!!
