kicker Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 well I don't think that it is dirty it's the sport they might fight i bit bad but it was there choice to join the Martial Arts so I would say so when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
Joecooke007 Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 It's definitely not dirty if it's in the rules. Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
thaiboxerken Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 There is no such thing as "dirty" fighting outside of sport. In a fight, there is no good, there is no evil, there are only results. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Angus Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 I'm interested now... why wouldn't i see many leg kicks in thailand? Is it because they know that they are so good as to be able to block the leg kicks or what? Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
havoc Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 westerners think of muaythai and we think leg kicks. leg kicks are a part of muaythai but it tends to be a bigger part of western muaythai than it does in thailand. the thai's r very good at leg checking and being that they fight pretty regularly the chance of injury to themselves from throwing leg kicks outweight the usefulness of them.u will see them, just not as much as you would think.
Angus Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 Ahhh, that's what i thought. U know, i really don't know why all martial arts haven't adopted (or didn't think of in thefirst place) the leg checks/blocks... I've seen kungfu dudes kick the leg coming up but i've only seen freestylers and thaiboxers do the proper checks. This new form of karate i do (which basically freestyle) does leg checks... It's seriously got to be one of the most useful things out there. Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
Strife Posted February 22, 2002 Posted February 22, 2002 All ive heard so far is that if its within the "rules"! Sure, controled fights in the ring, I can see rules there of course. Ask yourself this, when you fight; do you fight to get your arse kicked? Or do you fight to win!? If your fighting to win, everything is legal and non-dirty! ______________________________________Its only funny until someone gets hurt. Then its hilarious.
ramcalgary Posted February 23, 2002 Author Posted February 23, 2002 When I started this post I meant dirty in a ring fighting audience viewing way not as a self defence method. Anything goes on the street. A good old front kick to the nuggets or side kick to the knee works as well as anything. Honor is the most important thing a man has once you lose it it is gone forever
