Nah i didn't take any offence, cos i know it's hard to understand... It's not JUST what other people would think of you, it's what you would think of yourself as well... It's a damn shame that the punks that pulled the knife didn't has any honour. They're just cowards, and hopefully this guy's death will haunt them until the day of their own demise.

Nah that's cool, i don't expect ANYONE to agree with me - cos it's just not the way you were brought up... Just think of it as some weird cultural thing. I know that if i showed cowardice and wussed out of something (there's a difference between wussing out and backing off) then i wouldn't be able to look anyone in the eye anymore and i wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror.

Well, Angus... I was brought up to be smart. You only have one life - and its a short one. Make it last, have fun and don't waste it.

I consider fighting everytime your challenged to be a waste of a good life. Sorry.

That's cool Pat, i haven't got a problem with that, cos u aren't from my circles. Just don't cross me on the street

Slider - it's not exactly image... actually.... um... hard to explain but i'll give it a go.

U know how Australian soldiers are so highly regarded? (Not saying that US or English soldiers or anything like that aren't) Like we are known for our resilience and reluctance to back down even when outnumbered. Well that's kinda because of the attitude that many of our 'tough guys' are brought up with.

It's kinda like "If you start a fight your a idiot, but if you walk away from one you're a coward!"

It's all about ego in the end, we simply couldn't live with ourselves if we showed cowardice. You're always gonna have the wusses and the guys who have no clue about honour and courage and all that - but from the social circles i dwell in we kinda have some unofficial rules of combat. But sadly we are quite literally a dying breed as more and more punks carry knives around.

Don't try to understand, cos u just won't. One person compared it to being like a Japanese Kamekaze pilot.

Angus, if I crossed you on the streets... I'd be fine.

You should use your abilities when it is neccessary - when your life is in danger or the life of someone else. This gentleman's life was not in danger - or from the article and information you have given, was not at that moment.

When you are fighting for your life - there is no honor, it is survival of the fittest or best equiped.

This is all under the bridge, because you won't listen to me. But, the bottom line is that because of his (Ross) actions and this attitude you have descirbed, there are 2 kids without a father.

Come on Pat! I'm listening to you, i'm just not agreeing. Ross was defending the honour of his wife against more than one person, he simply didn't see the knife coming and didn't expect it.

Perhaps his life wasn't in danger, but i wouldn't like to see my gf/wife have to endure something like that, and i would have clocked the guy.

I'm listening, i'm just not gonna change my mind.

So, then the wife matters and the kids don't?

And what are you saying when you say "defending the honor of his wife" - this could mean a multitude of actions by other people. Please elaborate.

Nah, i'm sick of elaborating... I was willing to try and explain it at the start but i can't do any better and now i'm just getting annoyed at the misplacement of respect for a different culture. You won't understand because (no offense) you're a different breed. I'd like to drop the subject now, cos it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
