I've had that happen a few times and have of course made a joke about it....but it's really not a big deal - I'm mean come ooooooon you guys  !! When practising our ipon kumite's or other self defence techniques it's pretty much bound to happen...someone grabbing at you from behind and then a little slip or miscalculation...oh well - have a good laugh and move on!!

As an instructor and school owner, that is something that I would worry about. I try to pay attention to what I am doing so that does not occur. It depends on the situation, but that can cause some legal trouble in the hands of the "sue-happy" individual.

If that did happen for some reason, I would handle it much like the other guy did...which was apologize, and advise the student that it was an honest mistake. Having a reputation as a "harrasser" show up cuz u didnt can actually hurt your business substancially.

Hasta!!

Yeah, I hear what you're saying slider - there definately are potential legal issues - especially in the States where everyone seems to jump on the law-suit bandwagon at the drop of a hat. Schools and instructors definately need to protect themselves, unfortunately - however we as women also need to understand that these things will happen and to try not to over-react. You should of course expect an apology, however after that's done then simply move on. If you do feel that this was done with intent, well that's basically a judgement call and you should discuss this with your instructor - most of us should be aware and able to tell the difference I believe. I for one am sometimes grateful for the extra chest 'padding' :bigwink:, but seriously ladies...if you wanna be taken seriously, then you need to know that stuff like that is gonna happen and guys may tend to not want to spar with you if you can't over-look a simple mistake. See ya!

I hear ya Kickbutt ... and totally agree but I believe most of the women involved in the MA would let instances such as those roll off their back so-to-speak. Thats pretty minor considering that every day women are facing and meeting challenges in and out of the dojo. Let's not get into dealing with come-ons, sexual inuendo, and other forms of sexual harassment or gender differences within the martial arts ... that may be too heated a subject :kaioken: :argue: :dead:

This is getting interesting. It is interesting the variety of replies. I don't think I've seen a topic get as many looks as quickly as this one has.

I will relay the best of these replies to a WomeninShotokan club. I am sure they would appreciate some of the responses too.

But before I do does anyone mind?

Couldn't have said it any better

Once, I was sparring my brother and I kicked him in the (a place that hurt him a lot more than it would have hurt me). It was funny. People seemed to be laughing more at me than at him!
