KnifeHand Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I've recently started training with suntetsu. It seems to be a pretty obscure weapon, which is surprising when you consider its effectiveness. Anybody out there acquainted with this little powerhouse of a weapon? harleyt26 Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 can you describe your weapon for me,we practice one called a sansetsu kun(three sectional staff)although it is not in the syllabus for our kobudo style. We do okinawan kobudo but a chinese student gave my sensei one of these weapons and taught him a form for it. migi kamae, migi bo kihon ichi
harleyt26 Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I just red your post in the favorite weapon thread,it sounds very similar to what we call a Techu or tekko. It may have originated from the pin used to hold the hair up. migi kamae, migi bo kihon ichi
KnifeHand Posted November 28, 2004 Author Posted November 28, 2004 Yes, the weapon is a 6'' skinny metal rod with a ring attached to it that rotates, so you can hold the weapon with several grips. I have also heard it called the two names you suggested. I think it is a great self-defense tool, especially for women and smaller males. Anyone else ever use one?
