dingyuan Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 you think it's easy to execute? in competition? I've found that in competition, it's rather hard to pull off - almost impossible - unless you do it in an unorthodox manner, such as angling across them and attacking the opposite leg, as opposed to the normal straight forward variation. Yeah, you are right, the big outer rip looks cool but it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to use it in real life or in competition.
Kreisi Posted November 30, 2004 Author Posted November 30, 2004 what art is baji quan??? What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
dingyuan Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 what art is baji quan??? Go to Chinese Martial art, you will find a topic there.
superfighter Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 the only way i can throw someone down with O SOTO GARI is to quickly pull them to towards me so there only balancing on 1 leg. Other than that its impossible for me to pull off. people just move too quickly otherwise
judoguy Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 If you really think about it most throws have to be done in a somewhat unorthodox method with the possible exception of seoi nage and tai otoshi. I'm talking about in live randori with someone who knows what they are doing of course. They certainly don't look as beautiful as they do when demonstrating on uke. I'm only going to ask you once...
Kaminari Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Harai Goshi, O Soto Gari, and Kata Guruma are three of my favorites.
Fu Man Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Osoto Gari, Ippon Seoi Nage and Tai Otoshi are my favorite throws.Ted
NotQuiteDead Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Arm drag ---> tani otoshi. I don't consider it a throw but it's my favorite way of taking someone down.
GhostlySykanRyu Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Can't pick just one...Morote Seoi NageO Soto GurumaTai OtoshiTomoe NageSede Tsurikomi Goshi To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
Mr Pockets Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 I don't know if this counts, but a good double leg take down; if you get it deep enough and fast enough, makes a great throw right on to their back.
