He gave me a speech about it and I am still very confused about it :-? AND I AM NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT STANDING ON ONE LEG BALENCE OR STANCE BALENCE TO MAKE IT KNOWN. wILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS BALENCE THING SO I DON'T GET CRUSHED AT THE EXPO. AND ALSO WHAT BETTER WAYS TO FIGHT IN THE EXPO USING BALENCE TO MY ADVANTAGE. :karate: :karate: :karate: :karate: :D P.S. if there is a sighn that says poll next to this, than it is an accident please forgive me.

Hmm...I'm not sure ow you mean mastering the balence. If it working n your stance then I can help. First put your feet together. Then with the right foot take one step back. Then move it out the same distance keeping the left foot still in the starting position. this should give you an almost perfect left stance, providng you moved about 2' with each step.

If this isn't what you are on about then I'm sorry!

It might help if you define what type of balance you are referring to. There is physical balance which elliotspirett was talking about. There is mental balance i.e. aggressive vs defensive mindset. There is balance referring to type of attacks i.e. using kicks and punches equally. Maybe if you can explain your question more clearly we can help.

Yeah true steveb. No offence mate, but you seem pretty unclear. I think you are refering to using other's balance or lack thereof, in an offensive way, so as to win fights. Or you could be talking about using your own balance to put more power into certain techniques. Chances are though, that I'm wrong once agan

What is the difference between you and your reflection in the mirror? Have you serriously thought about what your teacher said? The reference could mean many different things in the martial arts so think about this in the context of your own style and sparring in particular and get back to us.

Now to answer your question. When someone speaks to me of being balanced in sparring I think of a blend of hand and foot, of offense and defense, of forward motion and backward motion, of aggression and passivity, of fast versus slow, of emotion versus strategy. This kind of balance is an important part of sparring as it creates a unpredictable and ever changing game that you have control over and gives you better command of yourself. Now look in the mirror...

Thankyou ninjanurse for the reply but I am still confused as ever. My mom who took kenpo before she had me is confused as well. especially about the reflection in the mirror thing, that has been in my mind so long I am having dreams about it. Please explain this balence thing in sparring to me more. Not just to ninjanurse but to everyone who has balence sparring tips. :kaioken:   :-?

By the sounds of it mate. You are unsure what you mean. Ask your teacher if they can shead any light on it!
