Check out blackandblue.com for some videos on"spinning". Thye are by guys like Mike Chat, Jon Valera, etc. I think it is nuts to try spinning the kama, but if you do and things don't go so well. Will you post which body part you cut off.

i am not afraid of the guy who is spinning and twirling his staff.

i am afraid of the guy who has it in a good grip and position.

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.

do you guys have any links to videos of traditional forms or katas with kamas? cuz i'm quite familiar with how the xtreme forms with kamas look like, but i'm curious as to the more traditional forms...

and frakis, yes, that's exactly what i was getting at...since i don't know how to properly use kamas yet, i was wondering if there were any free sources online to do similar spins and manipulations such as with pipes or sticks, which was what i was planning on doing until i get proper training

Its not really spinning the kamas... its more like opening your hand and letting it twirl back and then pulling it back forward... just really really fast.... if thats what you mean by spinning

how often ARE you gonna have a pair of kamas handy when you're being mugged? and not just competition kamas, but sharpened kamas? okay, i understand that even non sharpened competition kamas can do at least some damage with some speed, but really, are you going to be using a real kama as a real weapon? most people use kamas for interest or whatever

Uhhhhh...I used to carry my kama's and nitonbo on the gun rack of my truck. OK...I'm weird! :brow:

thats not quite what spinning is that is a bad example for it but ya i suppose you could call it spinning. spining in my oppinion is useing the tips of the fingers to manipulate the weapon (prefarbly not bladed) in a circular motion not just back and forth real fast to make it seem as if they are going in circles.

as i have given up my sword twirling i take back anthing i said about impresive spinning but i find to use dual hand weapon effectively you usually have to spin some or at least manipulate it in the air some, so a cetain amount of spinning skill is reqired be it only a little.
