uppercut defense

Recommended Posts

Those upper cuts are usually pretty sneaky, but relatively easy to block when you and your opponent have gloves on, but what about bare-knuckle? How would you block it?

The greatest clarity is profound silence.

First of all remove your groin, going into something resembling cat stance helps this. Secondly just use heavy hand on their arm... using no strength at all just bang the full weight of your arm on theirs. Even in some of the punch does reach you there will be no power left in it and you will be able to ride it.

A properly applied uppercut goes 'straight up.' Standard uppercut targets are the groin, underarms, and chin. To avoid an uppercut to any region, do not let him line up with you. I.e., parallel to you. To protect the groin form an uppercut, keep slightly angled so that you can redirect an incoming strike with your thighs. To protect the underarms from an uppercut, keep the elbows tight to the side of the body, protecting your floating ribs. To protect the chin from an uppercut, tuck your chin.

step to his side at the same time catching it on the way up and flipping him. or just slap it out of the way(redirecting his force going at you out of there, just a little slap at his hand out of your way and then go for his throat to take him down quickly or throw him down from his hair or his shirt. Remember the shirt is like a second skin.

Even the most powerful human being has a limited sphere of strength. Draw him outside of that sphere and into your own, and his strength will dissipate.
