SevenStar Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I've been choked unconscious in training, and in the ring I've been near knocked out, but never actually KOed.
47MartialMan Posted November 23, 2004 Author Posted November 23, 2004 47MartialMan: I know my misstakes, but by that time I had never spent any time with martial Arts. This was actually 3 days before I left for the army. This was probably an experiment that helped me find my way to KM, let's just say: Learning by doing. The second time, the one with my ear. Well I didn't feel much pain, I have braked my eardrum afew time before and I know the feeling. I remember one of those times, I didn't have it checked for two or three days, and that sure hurt. Don't do my mistake, be carefull as you dive of the 10 meter platform. I'm a experienced diver but you still make misstakes sometimes.I know......that why I stated-I am sure you know......The point wasnt the mistakes-but that "close to KO response", was great. Have you had a "total black out KO"?
Sasori_Te Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I have been knocked out due to martial arts training several times. Two of those times were accidents. The first one you could call a tko. I was caught in the back of the head with a hook kick. All I remember was the guy sidestepping. The next thing I knew I was seeing spots and everything sounded really far away. I also noticed that my hands were down and I couldn't seem to get them back up. The second time I was sparring for part of my ikkyu requirements. I got caught by a spinning hook kick to the ribs. Next thing I new I was on the floor with the ref and judges around me. I saw spots and everything sounded really garbled as I was waking up. I also managed cracked rib out of that episode. Since then I've been rendered unconscious by pp's several times during demonstrations. It's pretty much the same feeling except for the headache afterwards. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
Hudson Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 A long time ago before I took up martial arts, in middle school. Got in a fight and pushed over a bench. And I'll tell you, that locker had a hell of punch. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
doubletwist Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Well, I'm still pretty much a beginner so I haven't had much chance of getting knocked out yet in an MA scenario. The only time I've been knocked out is when I got hit in the eye with a wet baseball. I remember getting hit, then stumbling slowly towards the front door of the house. I can remember fighting away the darkness/woozieness and thinking to myself 'I'm not going to make it, I'm not going to make it...", then I woke up about three seconds later, laying on the driveway. [i know it was only a few seconds because I saw my grandparents start to open the door before I dropped, and they hadn't made it off the porch yet when I woke up]. It was a very bizarre feeling.
