Yeah, one of the first things I had done was taking, and getting re-certified, for forst aid, CPR, and "General Sports Medicine".

I've been KO'ed once, at a high school wrestling practice. I was laterally dropped onto the back of my head. I remember the grab. I remember trying to resist. I even remember starting to fall. Then nothing. I woke up with one heckuva headache. Other than that, I was fine when I got up.

In retrospect, it showed great technique, coordination, and an eye for opportunity. But in high school, that is a very embarrasing thing to have happen to you. Kevin (my opponent) and I were great friends both before and after. But other peers never let it go.

I have also experienced something close to what Angela experienced. But that was not a KO. Well, maybe it was. You decide....

While boxing in college, I was hit so hard in the temple that it disrupted my inner ear. (I felt a pop.) I kept going for about 30 seconds, but then I started getting woozy and collapsed. It was really weird. People were wondering why I fell down when my opponent hadn't landed a punch since that previous one. I never lost consciousness, and I was mentally aware the whole time, but I couldn't get back up. I just couldn't get my body to react. I ended up being down for about 10 minutes. Although it was not a lights-out KO, I was completely out of commission, and I could not defend myself in anyway.

Sounds to me very much like an energetic KO. Although the sound off the pop is a bit worrying (and slightly gross )

Ever Been Punched To Unconsciousness or Near?

no, worst I've ever had was a broken nose in high school... which was many, many years ago.

I got knocked out once a couple of years ago at a bar.

Few guys started fighting with my frienes girlfriend and him and when I went there to stop them I grabbed one guy from behinde, the next thing I remember was two or three hits in the back of my head and I dropped to the floor. I got back out very quick and I crawled out and told the people behind the bar what was going on and they call the cops.

We spent the rest of that nigt at the station and at the hospital.

The never checked my injure but my two friends needed treatment over night.

The guy that was most active during the assult got convicted later on.

Then I've almost got KO:ed during a Krav Maga seminar. we were grappeling and I got kneed right on my ear. First I tought that I poped my eardrum, but after a visit to the hospital we found out my eradrum was only bruised and had a little crack ( I didn't know you could get bruises on your eardrums).

Lucky for me the seminar was held at a military base so there was.walking distance to the hospital.

Bar-first mistake, I am sure you know.

Second mistake-ditto

the next thing I remember was two or three hits in the back of my head and I dropped to the floor.

Third mistake-struck from behind-ditto. If you got hit in the nack of the head and didnt see it coming, you were lucky it wasnt a object to cause a severe concusion.

I got back out very quick and I crawled out and told the people behind the bar what was going on and they call the cops.

The bottom line-if you had crawled, you weren't KOed. Can we call it a near KO?

Nicely put, be careful in bars

OUCH-bet you had wished to be KO, to not readily feel the pain.

I know my misstakes, but by that time I had never spent any time with martial Arts. This was actually 3 days before I left for the army.

This was probably an experiment that helped me find my way to KM, let's just say: Learning by doing.

The second time, the one with my ear. Well I didn't feel much pain, I have braked my eardrum afew time before and I know the feeling. I remember one of those times, I didn't have it checked for two or three days, and that sure hurt. Don't do my mistake, be carefull as you dive of the 10 meter platform. I'm a experienced diver but you still make misstakes sometimes.

I bet the blow threw your equilibrium off.
