nickb123 Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Hey (first post!), I'm a huge sai fanatic and of course is keeping track of the forthcoming Elektra movie as she uses sai. I just noticed that her sai have a criss-cross wrap design on the handle, much like that of katana handles. I just thought it looked really cool and was wondering what you guys thought about it. What kind of material would be used? I would guess traditional japanese cotton or something but what do I know lol. Also, I have no clue how you'd go about wrapping that. Whats your views guys?
Shorin Ryuu Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 The trailer doesn't show enough of her sai technique to let me judge if it is any good or not, but taking Daredevil into account and a photo of her holding the sai for Elektra, it does look a little suspect. On a positive note, I saw a picture of her holding a bo, and her knuckles are actually over the top of the bo (although since it is a pose, I really have no way of knowing whether it should be on top or bottom...). As far as sai wrapping goes, there are a wide variety of things you could use. Mine are just cord. For the criss-cross pattern, I suppose you could do it, but I envision it shifting around a lot do to the types of manipulation you do using the sai. It would have to be pretty tight, I think.
