MissG Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 sorry, my mistake. Shotokai, not shotokan. doh
Dr. Flem Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 Thanks guys and gals....... It's beginning to make alot of sense now. Good teacher = worthwhile school. Bad teacher = waste of time. All martial arts eventually reach the same point and each have their good and bad points. Very much appreciated. I've learnt quite a bit in the last few days.
ninelivesarentenough Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 if by some miracle you live in lake county ohio, go to my school. we're shotokan based but we learn several goju-ryu katas.
AnonymousOne Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Style is irrelevent, your attitude is the only thing relevent 7th Dan ChidokaiA true combat warrior has to be hard as nails in mind, body and soul. Warriors are action takers and not action fakers. If you are cruising, make time for losing
ninelivesarentenough Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 yea actually i guess the bottom line is if you go to a shotokan school, you won't like it as much as a SHOTOKAN school. if that makes any sense.
JOMA Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 The way I see it both styles use the same basics. Aim for the same results and both have good and bad instructors. If you can get a black belt in two years training for a couple hours a week. Your in the wrong place.
kzshin Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 PICK the one that you think must suitable to you.
seersin Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Yeah,I'd say read up on both ask questions about both.Figure out which you think would fit you best, then get to working hard at it. ISAIAH 53:5
