YODA
This may seem a little obvious but - have you tried asking your Sifu? If you ask "What is this stuff I've been doing for the last 9 months?" you may come across as a bit of a prune. Try this.... "Sifu, I've been studying under you for 9 months now and I love it. I'm interested in learning more about our style & it's history. Can you recommend a book or other source of info?" _________________ YODA 2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima Instructor : JKD Concepts http://www.jkdc.co.uk / http://www.docepares.co.uk [ This Message was edited by: YODA on 2002-02-02 05:03 ] YODA2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.ukQualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.ukQualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology)

YODA
"I want to know what it's like" ---- That's why I suggested you ask for information on the history of your style. That will tell you (hopefully) more than just it's name! About your spelling - are you sure about Ho Gar Kuien? I bet it's Kuen, not kuien. Many if not most Kung Fu styles end with "Kuen" - It means "Fist". The "Gar" means "Family" so Ho-Gar-Kuen would translate as Ho family fist. The nearest I have heard of to yours is Hung-Gar Kuen, a very popular stryle based mainly on the Tiger & Crane systems.
