This may seem a little obvious but - have you tried asking your Sifu?

If you ask "What is this stuff I've been doing for the last 9 months?" you may come across as a bit of a prune.

Try this....

"Sifu, I've been studying under you for 9 months now and I love it. I'm interested in learning more about our style & it's history. Can you recommend a book or other source of info?"

It takes sacrifice to be the best.

There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.

"I want to know what it's like"

---- That's why I suggested you ask for information on the history of your style. That will tell you (hopefully) more than just it's name!

About your spelling - are you sure about Ho Gar Kuien? I bet it's Kuen, not kuien. Many if not most Kung Fu styles end with "Kuen" - It means "Fist". The "Gar" means "Family" so Ho-Gar-Kuen would translate as Ho family fist.

The nearest I have heard of to yours is Hung-Gar Kuen, a very popular stryle based mainly on the Tiger & Crane systems.
