Niagie, Nae Han Ji

Recommended Posts

In the process of learning katas I like to research them. I have been working on the tekki katas. I have discovered the Korean version is called Niagie or Nae Han Ji.

Do any of you practice these forms? If so what do you think about them and where do they come into your training?

My tae kwon do school does nae han ji's! At least, I'm pretty sure because the instructors pronounce it quickly and it sounds like nahnji. I a long way from learning them since I'm a begginer but at my school, the students learn nae han ji's at red belt. Aren't they the forms where you have to stay in a horse stance the whole time? Are you also learning the fighting forms? I'm going to stop typing now so have a nice day!!!

Yes they are done in horse stance. Naihanchi was the name this group of kata was called in Okinawa. When Funakosha took his karate to Japan he changed the name to Tekki.
