Ronnryu Posted November 13, 2004 Share Posted November 13, 2004 (edited) The shotokan and Shito ryu versions of Sochin really do look like 2 different kata with the execption of the very last move. the shito ryu version is done with 3 cat stances and 3 reverse punches moving foward. then turn and 3 more reverse punches. My knowledge of Shinto Ryu is very limited and is based mostly on the description of the art in a martial arts book that I have. It seems to be a mostly no-gi "reality based" and "street" style of karate, although they do incorporate some kata training. The book doesn't mention the lineage of where Shinto Ryu was developed from. It also seems to be more popular in the UK than in the US. Sorry I can't be of further help.
