Doesn't Kenpo mean Chinese fist?

If that's the case, then Chinese kenpo is Chinese Chinese fist?

No, Kenpo means "Fist Law"

Ken = Fist

Po = Law

Is that Japanese or Hogen? What does 'kem'po mean?

As someone said, it is Japanese.

Kempo is the same as Kenpo. Both spellings are 'correct', and both of them are pronounced as 'kempo'

It has to do with the translation of the kanji into english.

:lol: Others have already answered, so I'll just add that the whole thing is a bit of a misnomer anyhow. Occidentals have long been known for their butchery of oriental languages. Look at how many people here practice their 'katas' regularly! :o
