Two years ago our club had a problem with a group of 18-20 y.o.'s who felt that anyone over 25 was "too old" for TKD. Snicker! They left...we worked out too hard for them.

I just had to laugh reading this thread. I'm 36 and started back in about Feb or so. I worked through my yellow belt and was getting ready to test for my orange..and promptly broke my wrist while sparring. I still dont even know what really happened, i think i went to give someone a round kick a little too fast and a little too hard and ended up falling on my wrist..thankfully i finally got the cast off and am now about ready to start going back to class. Whaddya do ? Gotta get back on that horse and try again.

Withers, I started TKD for the first time last Friday and my instructor told me the same thing. Like you, I found that a good sign regarding his ability to teach. Thus far I haven't had to take his advice to survive a class (and I don't use that word lightly) but I'm 24. If I were as out of shape as I am right now at age 36 I don't know. . . .

I don't really plan on ever using a kick above the waist in a real defensive situation, and I'll probably never be able to do the flying kicks well. The best shape I was ever in was 230 pounds. I was pretty lean and ran a good 40 back then, but I still weighed 230 pounds!

My instructor is a 4th Dan paraplegic in a wheelchair, so he understands physical limitations very well.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well, Rodan! Keep up the awesome work and you can always rely on us (and me) for support when you need it, as I often need encouragement as well, hehehe.
