Drunken Monkey Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 that's the difference. you qualified your statement. he didn't. he made an incorrect general remark. i gave him a specific counterpoint. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
battousai16 Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 i'm a bit confused as to how a style is less complete if it has more. i mean, even if you never use your jump spinny kicks or your reverse punches, you still have them, so wouldn't it then be more complete than the style with just the bare bones? "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
battousai16 Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 ummm, i was thinking basic techniques, without the additions. y'know, you have the front kick, then a jump front kick, then a jump reverse triple spin back flipping front kick, or whatever.... y'know, bare bones being the front/reverse front kick. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
SevenStar Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 perhaps he means more complete in terms of development. If I train the same core techniques over and over for years, whereas you have to split your training between weapons, forms, stance training, strikes, kicks, internal development, etc. Who is going to have more refined fighting skill? I dunno if that's what he was referring to, but that's my guess.
battousai16 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 well there's a point. i've always said that's my styles biggest weakness... "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai

Vito Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 no, completeness doesnt require being filled with useless stuff. completeness, as i see it, is what makes you the best fighter possible. it has the most USEFUL techniques, not the most period. I like this. But careful, martial arts are not just for fighting.
