Judo Warrior Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Hey, I'm in my high school's wrestling team, and it think it's just called High School Wrestling because there are restrictions and certain rules that don't apply in freestyle wrestling, but it is pretty much freestyle wrestling because u can attack below the belt, and in High School Wrestling it is important that when u throw an opponent u have to go down with them or else the refree will consider it a slam and u will most likely get disqualified, but some referees let it go. - A coward dies a thousand deaths, A warrior dies but once.- No matter how strong the wind is, The mountain cannot bow to it.
Kreisi Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 in greco roman you cant shoot legs for takedown. or anything under the waist What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
Red J Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I've always thought that HS wrestling was modified freestyle. The modified part takes out the more dangerous moves. I have never heard the term "folk". I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
White Warlock Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Old thread. Anyway, yes... it is freestyle wrestling, with modified rules. Some school districts have also restricted the use of certain moves, due to insurance purposes. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro
