Topic Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 Since my techniques are good and I feel alittle more comfortable sparring, the next step it to fight smart, and this is hard for me to do. Its hard for me to try to figure out my parters weaknesess still so im asking out guys to give me some tips on what i should look for in my opponent and how i can attack his weak spots. for example if the opponent has a bad leg block or desnt block at all and just takes the kicks than i will obviously keep hitting the leg, stuff like that. Thanks
TheDevilAside Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 I wouldn't get so worried over the details and focus on them so much. That just might mess you up. Instead focus on more general 'weaknesses' and factors you can exploit and use to your advantage, such as short vs. tall, strong vs. weak, and so on. Take care of the little details (such as a bad leg block) while you're in the fight, not before. If you focus on that leg too much you just might end up getting hit in the face.. or just miss out on a bunch of target opportunities. Shane Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 I agree I would not focus to much on this, the more you spar the more you start to notice things that are going, things that at first there is no way your going to see them. I'll give you a tip about sparring fellow classmates, observe them as much as possible during class, when your holding pads for them watch and see what type of moviements the do prior to performing a certian technique. Once you see them doing this your going to want to of course correct them and let them know there doing it, but store it away in your head because you might be sparring them next!!!! SoonerJohn Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 Don't focus on it too the point you are missing oppurtunities to strike, but do start to look for openings, or create them. Also remember, your opponent will be doing the same, he could be drawing you with those kicks your doing.
