JKDkid2 Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 In what style do u get iron fingers iron palm and i think iron hand or iron fist ???
MenteReligieuse Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 You can train these on your own...there are books on the subject. Iron fingers : use a bowl/box of sand at about knee height (has to be at belt level when you get down into semi/full horse stance) and finger strike (with all four fingers) the sand. You can add water to make the sand more compact. Once you get no pain from this you can move to small pebbles. Iron palm and iron fist. hit a hard surface (ie. wood) (again, while in horse stance) with your palm or your fist (watchout for proper fist/wriste alignement or you will just hurt yourself). You may start with a little padding on the hard surface at first. Iron forearms : Find a tree as wide as your waist (not necessary), get into horse stance and hit it with the outer and inner forarms lightly at first, then put more strenght as you get more resistant. When you'll be able to hit and make the leaves fall from the tree, you'll have pretty hard forearms. **** Be carefull, you do not want to hurt yourself and aggrave the condition doing this. Read/ask your sifu on tips, use rubbing lotions to ease the pain. If you are hurt beyound bruises (sprains, stiffness, etc) give it a break...you may have done something wrong while training.
Hudson Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Yeah, those are all pretty much styles you can condition at home. I would also suggest practicing Paper Tent. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
MenteReligieuse Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Arf...its pretty hard..has to do with paper, a rope and a table...hehe read it in Bruce Lee's "Tao of gung-fu", but can't describe it precisely at the top of my head. Trains reflexe/coordination and strenght.
Master Jules Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 I know this is gonna sound weird, but this is serious.....if you plan on doing fingertip training, it can affect your vision, but there are herbs that can aid with that. There are many meridian lines that begin and end in the fingertips....be careful what you do. Conditioning the palm and fist is a different story.......no real problem there. ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
47MartialMan Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 I wonder what the Chinese word for "iron"? The same for "finger"? The same for "wrist"? The same for "forearm"? The same for "elbow"? I am serious. I have some ideas, don't know if they are accurate.
Hudson Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Well, I don't know how you'd train iron finger, but if you want strong fingers, fingerprint and fingertip pushups are great for that. If you know how to do that, then the rest of this post is useless, but for anyone who doesnt: Fingerprint you will place the front part of the tip of your finger (Like you're giving away fingerprints to the police ) Fingertip you practice on the very tips of your fingers, the same way you would press playing guitar/violin/etc; If you cant do the pushups, try doing them on your knees, if you can't do that, just hold the pushup postition for as long as you can. Start out using all 10 fingers, then drop to 8, then to 6, then to 4, then to 2, and you will have tough fingers! The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
