dippedappe Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I was wondering if anyone here at this forum was studying Jeet Kune Do. If that be the case, then I would like to know if it looks like the way Bruce Lee did it, You know, the way his jumping around? Or is it more like a brutal streetfighting way of fighting? Ive Been dabling in the art myself. But its only by reading Bruce Lees books. I cant find any teacher here in little Denmark.
Vito Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 denmark has some of the best kickboxing... take advantage of that. "If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." -Machiavelli
Vito Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 or am i thinking of holland? "If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." -Machiavelli
cross Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Holland usually has great kickboxers, im not so sure about Denmark. Information below quoted from: http://www.academyjkd.com/Instructors.htm "Denmark Instructor Name: Jacob Aabye School Name: Performance Gym School Address: Osterbro,Svanemollehallen City, State: Copenhagen Country (if outside the USA): Denmark Phone number: 40531102 Email: Jacob@Performancegym.dk Website: https://www.Performancegym.dk Classes available (group, private, seminars): Group,Private,Seminars" Im not sure if that school is anywhere near you dippedappe, but its in Denmark so thats a good start.
dippedappe Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 "Im not sure if that school is anywhere near you dippedappe, but its in Denmark so thats a good start". There is jeet kune do in kobenhagen but thats a pretty long drive for me. But its worth it if its what i want. But still I didnt get the answer I wanted...not that I dont appriciate your posts, so thanks for your answers.
cross Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 then I would like to know if it looks like the way Bruce Lee did it, You know, the way his jumping around? Or is it more like a brutal streetfighting way of fighting? When you find an instructor of jkd they will probably teach you some techniques and the concepts behind them. Then you make what you want of them and add or take techniques away. So basically it can look however you want it to look but there are still principles and so on which are followed. But its more like streetfighting than "jumping around". Hope that answers a little more clearly.
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 you don't jump around in jkd. if you're talking about bruce lee doing jkd by jumping around, then you've not seen him doing jkd.... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
dippedappe Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 Thanks that helped. But one of the basics of JKD is the jumping Around, Loosly and easily.
dippedappe Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 you don't jump around in jkd. if you're talking about bruce lee doing jkd by jumping around, then you've not seen him doing jkd.... See "Enter the Dragon" and "Way og the Dragon". And read his book "Tao of Jeet Kune Do" and you will change you mind. As I said. his book tells you to move around freely and easy without doing it as hard word. So its not like Kickboxing, but more like small tripping. I have heard the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune DO. So maybe Its because you arent practicing his way. Not to correct you or anything, just a thought.
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 they are films. they are not real. i have never known a jkd guy that jumps around. they tend to be pretty much like any other guy from any other style. moving freely does not mean jumping around. move when you need to. don't move when you don't need to. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
