dippedappe Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 "So I asked my teacher if theres a name called Sifu" this line bothers me some what. i find it hard to believe that the person teaching you couldn't answer this question.... . No it was my current teacher. Cant remember what hes called, but its something you cant take serious . Im not so lucky to be training with Shifu.
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 what's the difference between the guy you call shifu and the guy you call teacher? what is the relation between them? who teaches you? who teaches him? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
dippedappe Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 My Shifu teaches the other guy. The one who teaches me is about one grad over Shiqon(the one who helps my teacher if he cant make it), or whats it called. I just cant remember the name of my teacher. I just know it sounds stupid though. I think he has the black with red stripes belt. The classical kung fu belts, silk like belt hanging by the side. Maybe first dan. just a quess.
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 .....and this is where i shut up..... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Budderfly Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 There are also different accents and ways of saying things in asia. Perhaps one is accustomed to saying Shifu in one part of the country when another says Sifu. Best to ask the person how they prefer to be called.
dippedappe Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 I think thats the right solution to. My theory is, that mandarin and Cantonese has different ways of saying it.
