ovine king Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 er..... we do use the year system in the uk. i.e lower sixth is year 12, upper sixth is year 13. hmm, or maybe it was just because i was in a poncy grammar school back in the day...... earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
aefibird Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Yes, the Year system is in use in the UK. I teach Year 3 at the moment, which are the 7-8 year olds. Children in the UK start at Nursery school when they're 3 1/2 or 4, then they move onto the Reception Class and start in Year 1 when they are 5. You can leave school in the UK at 16 (at the end of Year 11) but many people stay on into Year 12 and 13 and leave when they are 18. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..."
