foreveryoung001
Why not try out a week where you train in both arts and see how you go? If you think that you'd get confused, or wouldn't have enough time or energy to devote to training in both, then just stick to Goju. However, if you like the trial sessions of training in TKD you might as well take up the 'free' classes whilst they're available to you. Just remember to try and keep them seperate in your head - don't be thinking "if I was in my Goju class we'd be doing X" whilst you're in the middle of TKD and vice versa. Approach your TKD training with an open mind and a resolve to do well and I'm sure that you'll enjoy it and get a lot out of it. I would agree with Aefibird. Having never trained in Goju, I can not speak to the effectivness as compared to TKD, however, I have sparred some Goju students who were visiting the school I was training at once, and we all held our own against each other. Is one better than the other.... that's an old debate. If you do decide to train in both, I would stress again not to compare the two in your mind while in class. I think most instructors are open to comparisons, but before or after class, not during the class. I can't stress enough how anoying it can get when students pipe up during class, "Well, Master so-n-so says we should do it this way..." Try to avoid that, and learn what the instructor is trying to you as to that particular style. Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"Master: "Hitting him with a chair was the only karate I could think of at the time."Lesson: Practice until you don't have to think.
