One Hit One Kill

Shotokan Karate is based on the One Hit One Kill method. This is why there are very deep stances, and hips are very important. The deep stances generate a strong foundation for movement during techniques such as Gyaku Tsuki, and a lot of the reverse and lunging techniques. The use of hps generates power through the body from the hips, up to the arms, and out at the fists.

Does anybody think that training with this method is the best, or have you other opinions?

The theory behind one strike and that is it has a solid basis. To get the situation over as quickly as possible. Not to continue to exchange blow or have some kind of slugfest.

The ultimate purpose of karate was self defence in life or death situations. That kind of situation needs, demands a rapid resolution.

Shotokan Karate competitions are something to watch. The amount of effort and power is amazing.

With a great deal of control Joe! lol

Once a man asked Master Azato the meaning and application of this. " Try to hit me," replied Azato calmly. The man did as he had been told, but in the twinkling of an eye the blow was parried and Azato's own single point fist flew toward his opponent's stoumach, where it stopped, at a distance of perhaps the thickness of a sheet of paper. The celerity of the whole movement was incredible. The man who had asked the question did not even have time to blink his eyes before he realisezed that the fist, had it actually struck his solar plexus, might well have killed him...

In conclusion moobrack, that method of fighting sounds good to me !

Actually the one strike and that is hit philosophy as taught in shotokan is not at all the same thing as the chinese dim mak technique.

The shotokan concept is to put all you have into your defense and get out of a bad situation as quickly as possible.

The chinese dim mak is a very complex thing requireing years of training. It all depends on the harnessing and channelling of your internal energy.

wel the one hit one kill principle is throughout Japanese martial arts ie... kenjitsu (sword) in that art it is taught that if both men die upon the single strike it is still honurable. Also in karate you want to end the conflict as fast as possable . As they used to tell me in the army one shot one kill !

Karate is not a sport , it is a way of life .

The one strike one kill training is bogus......it does not work. Who can tell you in truth that they have done it and it works!! Stories and fables are everywhere but kill someone in a selfdefence situation and see who ends up in court unless your life was in immediate danger.

Honor is the most important thing a man has once you lose it it is gone forever
