jedimc
Hi I got a friend that says that he is doing brazilian jiu jitsu but when I tell him to show me a few things he has learned so far he shows me flashy jump kicks and these advanced kicks that look like Taekwondo techniques, Im not sure what he is learning but it might mixed martial art with bjj-taekwondo or bjj-capoeira, is their any kicking in bjj? http://jedimc.tripod.com/ma.html - what MA do you do, this is my poll. Shane
His school might be teaching a mixed arts class based on BJJ. I know I teach a Jujitsu class but I include my kickboxing techniques into that class. So by doing this it becomes a program based on Jujitsu but includes more to make it well rounded. I will say that real jujitsu is for combat so what ever would really work should be in a jujitsu program but as far as these fancy kicks your talking about I dont know. Anyways so that could be the case a program based on BJJ. A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!! Rich67
It all depends on who is teaching it, and what their idea of BJJ is. The BJJ I am studying deals purely with grappling. Standing grappling to takedowns, guard and mount positions, etc. Not any fancy kicks, just dirstractors to the knees and thighs, and elbow strikes. Don't know what your friend may be doing, but it may be a hybrid style- if he doesn't know any grappling, he may not actually be studying BJJ, maybe capoeira. jedimc
Yeah its strange but he said he is doing bjj, next time i see him i'll ask him if he learned any grappling and on-ground grappling, but from what ive seen him do it looks like capoeira. http://jedimc.tripod.com/ma.html - what MA do you do, this is my poll. jedimc
He didnt make a mistake im sure he lied to me , but i kept on asking him and he said "im doing a ninja school" and i said you must be doing some form of ninjistu. He just just started so he would be learning kicks and strikes and stuff and yes he does learn to stab with weapons but he doesnt know how to fly, i guess you would need alot of chi for that. http://jedimc.tripod.com/ma.html - what MA do you do, this is my poll.
