SoonerJohn
Oddly enough, spittle significantly escalates the degree of force used. In some States, spittle can be argued to be a chemical weapon, especially if you were knowingly sick at the time. Silly, eh? Chemical weapon eh? It sounds right. It does indeed escalate the force used. I had a guy do it while sparring one time in order to break an armlock I had on him. He distracted me and broke my hold, but I really worked him over right after that. Luckily I came back to my senses before it got out of hand. opnek
1st kenpo technnique you learn is called delayed sword. Its from a lapel grab. Its a 3 beat sequence, step back with the side he has grabbed you on to throw him off balance and put his free hand (which he will most likely attack you with) as far away from you as possible. Strike the arm that has grabbed you to knock it off, execute a front snap kick to the groin, and sword hand to the neck / clavical area. Very simple, very effective if pulled off correctly. Devastating too. Now as far as jumping up and kicking someone with both legs and ripping your shirt off..... Seems more like a saturday night live sketch to me Cheers.-There are no pure styles of karate. Gilbert
alright, alright it was just an example to explain what i was trying to explain.....what if it is a friend who grabbed your shirt because of a misunderstanding...like he saw you walking with his girl or whatever...or if he got into something like drunk or something. or maybe a family member like a brother. would u want to kick the hell out of him or just detain him and make him listen and explain what happened. Drunken Monkey
ok, let's ignore the initial posts and look at something else. i wouldn't have let him grab my lapel. if you were going to do something, be it a fake or whatever, it should've been done before he was able to complete his grab/grip/hold. if you are only trying to make him loosen his grip AFTER he has made it nice and tight, then you are playing catch up, a situation that you shouldn't be in. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." Gilbert
i see.... when i type it down...the distraction part and detaining him or her. you picture it in your mind and have a long version. this is simply a less than half a second technique and youll have him pin down to the floor or whatever. im just explaining how the mind can easily be distracted. now if it was someone else.....ofcourse kick him or punch him. hey if your in danger....either fight or get ready for a beating Even the most powerful human being has a limited sphere of strength. You don't have to loosen his grip for the technique to be effective either. after it's done you can go in and clinch him, or take another approach. And... well, saying that you wouldn't let him grab you in the first place is nice and all, but I'd still train for it. White Warlock
I see, so you were posing one of those "what if" scenarios. Like, "what if my cousin grabs my left shoulder, then turns me around and asks me a question, but my brother interrupts him and points out that there's a special at Kmart. And then, a total stranger walks by with his dog while someone parks their car in someone else's driveway. All the while, your mother is cooking in the kitchen and you hear the phone ring, but the only working phone is upstairs... and you're on crutches because you stubbed your toe trying to fake a kick to distract someone just last week." So... what do you do then? Eh? Tell me...
