White Warlock
as far as the one leg goes. man are you a joke.lol.plz Umm... Gilbert, you threw the first stone at Thaegen when you stated the above comment in the first page. Judge not others, lest ye be judged yourself. as the ki goes......all im gonna say now is that its all in the mind. i will say no more.... plz note if someone who really wants to know how to use ki ask me or email me...at ldoubleg@hotmail.com. I'm at a loss here. You created this thread and brought the topic up. Now you don't want to talk about it, except via email?!? Forums are a great place to share ideas, learn, pose questions, and interact. It's not a great place to sermon, lecture, or insist upon faith as the guiding force. There will be questions, and if you're not ready to answer those questions... then may i suggest sticking to sharing ideas, learning, posing questions of your own, and interacting in a positive way. Just my observations, hope it helps. Sasori_Te
Amen brother WW. If you say something here in this forum that doesn't make any sense or doesn't seem logical, you're going to get called on it. Don't let it hurt your feelings. Explain your point of view to try and change the other opinion. A solid well founded argument is always better than slinging insults. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw. 47MartialMan
Ok. Gilbert, what you have to do is not get ruffled just because someone does agree with you. Or when someone is going to debate you. The maturity of a martial artist, is to hone any overindulgence of pride, ego, and fast temperment. I am not going to "bash" your typing, via intentional insulting, but anyone that desires to "poke" a little fun at it, you should be a better person and "laugh" it off as well. And when you post your opinion, have a little more depth presentation of it. Take your time to write, then proof-read what you have written. Trust me, I cannot begin to tell you how times, in how many posts, that I have prrof or re-read what i had written. Yes, WE all make grammatical errors. I could only wish that you were my student, i had many such as you that needed much guidance. I mean that on a way a little more than you have, won't hurt. BTW, I welcome you to the board. Gilbert
when someone mentions ki he usually starts to think something magical something supernatural...but it aint. you saw yourself with the arm that it was all in the mind.and send ki to the arm...i bet you didnt even notice. you may feel some kind of gental tickle flow through your body when performing some of these little practical techniques i posted. Nothing forceful but relaxed instead. it usually channels through your body..flowing and you can send it to an area where you want it to be. like the arm...you send it to the arm in that excercises. ki is not something magical or supernatural or powers...it is that simple. (forgive this new member here)if i posted something offensive. you said it yourself, with all due respect, laugh about it. Even the most powerful human being has a limited sphere of strength. Draw him outside of that sphere and into your own, and his strength will dissipate.

gcav
lol at Shorin Ryuu's first post. Mr. Gilbert. You stated that you are a 14 year old kid. I came to this conclusion on my own after reading some of your other posts, but could you please tell me how many years you have dedicated to the research and development of Ki? I would guess about 10 minutes, unless you're a slow reader and then I'd say maybe 20 minutes. A serious question here: What do you think qualifies you as an expert on Ki, and what knowledge could you provide someone that emails you? One of my arts strongly focuses on the development and use of Ki, so therefore I believe that it does exsist. I have repetedly seen very high ranking practisioners demonstrate it in various techniques. Those artists that study systems that do not devote time and energy to the development of Ki will more than likely not believe in it because they have not seen it, or experienced it. Don't get so wacked out of shape when others do not agree with you or ask questions. Thats what this forum is all about, a free and open exchange of ideas. Relax and open your heart and mind to learning new things. Oh yeah, you said that Bruce Lee was the best fighter you have ever seen. Why do you believe this and have you ever seen him fight? Train like your life depends on it....Because it does.
JEM618
Ki can be defined simply as mental energy. Practicing ‘ki’ involves nothing more than learning how to harness it and combine it with your body’s physical power. Nothing magic, or supernatural. I’ve seen numerous post saying it’s c***, and more often than not, the demonstration of ‘ki’ that these posters are talking about probably were, in fact, c***. What if I told you a 57 year old man, standing 5’6’’ and weighing 150 pounds invited a 30 year old man, standing 6’1’’ and weighing 190 pounds to attack him freely, without reserve. (The 30 year old teaches TKD and hold 2nd dan and practices a few other MAs) What would logic tell you, would win the fight? Would you believe me if I told you that in 20 minutes, the 30 year old didn’t land ONE technique? Would you believe me if I told you the 57 year old man threw him countless times and was able to apply a submission each time? Probably not. Neither would I. And before I actually experienced it, I would have had to agree with the detractors on this forum. That 30-year-old man was me 10 years ago. That 57-year-old man was an aikido teacher that I had met for the first time. I asked him how it was possible, and he said, ‘I used my ‘ki’’. Ki is no good in a fight? After experiencing that, I say, ‘ki’ is everything in a fight. (If ‘ki’ is defined, understood and practiced properly.) While attacking him, there were no signs of stress, fear, flinching, just calm, fluid, confident motion. I have been studying with him for almost 10 years now, and to this day, his technique improves with each passing day, no sign of fading away. Isn’t that strange? He attributes it to ‘ki’ training. The body’s physical peak is between 18-35, after that you start to become comparatively weaker and less flexible. The mind, however, if trained properly, unlike the body, doesn’t become weak as fast, and has the potential to become stronger for a longer period of time. My teacher is less physically strong than he used to be, not by much, but he is weaker. However, he continues to develop his ‘ki’, his mental or spiritual energy, to compensate. Thus, he can now do ‘more with less’. I remember attending a seminar with Dan Inasanto about 15 years ago, and he said as you get older, you must revise your style. Anyone who had done TDK for 15 years or so can attest to the fact that at one point they could shoot a side kick straight up in the air over their head, but with each passing year, the height of the kick started getting a little lower. If you are in your 20s or 30s now, maybe you like kickboxing, but can you actually imaging kickboxing when you are 50 or 60? You could say yes, but are there any 50 or 60 year olds at your gym? The mind getting pysched out? Ki is no good in a fight? After experiencing that, I say, ‘ki’ is everything in a fight. (If ‘ki’ is defined, understood and practiced properly.) While attacking him, there were no signs of stress, fear, flinching, just calm, fluid, confident motion. Is it ki, or the ability to control the mentality? Or is it experience? And, he was your instructor. Experienced by many years. And he had seen and know of your abilities. He maybe a "natural" fight tactician. you get older, you must revise your style True. But what if I don't practice ki and accomplish the same thing or goal? You could say yes, but are there any 50 or 60 year olds at your gym? Yes. And I had the pleasure of working out with a 71 year old Grandmaster. No Ki there. Probably the "key" to revise his method(s) as he aged. Sorry, I cannot "completely" believe in KI/Chi existence. Up until now, demos that I had personally witnessed, I can disprove. But, my "book is not closed" on it.
