Chirath
When Shadow Boxing do you put power into it or do technique. When ever I practice my punches with full force it feels like my arms are being ripped out of their sockets and I get extremley tired (I possibly last 4 seconds). Is this because I don't have much energy or because hitting nothing causes more stress on the body.
Shorin Ryuu
That means you are punching incorrectly...think of it as doing kata. You certainly don't hurt yourself doing kata, so you shouldn't be doing so when you are shadow boxing. I certainly didn't when I was boxing. If you are too tired, try doing sets of skipping rope. Chirath
That means you are punching incorrectly...think of it as doing kata. You certainly don't hurt yourself doing kata But in Kata you only do a few punches in a row. Im trying to do as many as possible followed by the occasional kicks and strikes. Drunken Monkey
shadow boxing is a little more complex than just punching and kicking. what you are doing just sounds like you punching and kicking in the air. not the same. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." Shorin Ryuu
That still doesn't change the fact that you aren't supposed to hurt yourself when doing shadowboxing. I wasn't doing a one-to-one comparison, I was noting that both of them should be injury-free. Drunken Monkey
i was addressing him. sorry for the confusion. what i mean is, i think first of all he should address what he is doing, then he should go about seeing why he is hurting. after all, if he is saying he is doing shadow boxing when he isn't, that needs to be 'fixed' first. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." cross
Chirath, work on technique first, then get power later. If you try and go all-out without using proper technique you will hurt yourself.
