Sasori_Te
dear john. How much time and how much money is involved in each one of these ranks that are being handed out? A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.

dear john
the monthly payments for most people not in the blackbelt club is $95 if you are in the club you pay $75 to $85. blackbelt club costs about $300. i do not pay a cent of monthly payments because i cannot aford to, but im a nice guy and so i get free. but i do pay for the belt test. it is $45, but i am nice guy and so i only pay $20 but like i said, i think that there are some good instructors and i need to stick with them and ignore the bad scene. and as for time, i spend about 7 hours a week training for Tae Kwon Do. i would spend more but i do have other MA to worry about and college and work, and blah blah blah. you get the picture. it is kinf of sad because i have been told by a couple of instructors that my technique is better than most of the candidate belts. i guess that part all comes down to dedication and how hard you study. the funny thing is that i know im wrong and i know your right, yet you keep argueing like it will change my mind. you should really know, you dont have to be right to win:)

manuelito
well dear john, since it sounds like you do not have a lot of money tied up in this school and only time i would recommend that you stick it out. at least until dan levels then you will have a really good feeling on what next to do in your ma training. to answer the mcdojo question, always look at the bb as a whole. take into consideration age, time spent, rank etc. this is usually the determing factor for me. just because one spends a lot of money on training does not always mean that it is a "mcdojo" school. i do think that a fee of $300 for bb (1st dan) a bit expensive. tells us what you decide to do. good luck. pain is weakness leaving the body.fear is the mind killer, i will face my fear and let it pass threw me. from the movie "dune"i know kung fu...show me. from the movie "the matrix"

Rick
I just got really annoyed when it was said that u only really started learning and concentrating on doing the moves properly when he gets to BB... They should be teaching to give the absolute best from day 1, otherwise it will produce weak and substandard black black belts both mentally and physically. Never EVER did i let a coloured rank give anything but their best when i was teaching ( a couple of years ago in another dude's school). I wouldn't wanna be taught substandard crap and i wouldn't wanna try my guts out while everyone else is getting their ranks just for turning up - it's ridiculous!
