Flying Tiger Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Where did the thread go? The greatest clarity is profound silence.
47MartialMan Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Are there any known or "bonafide" Drunkin Boxing instructors?
Flying Tiger Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I heard Jackie Chan is pretty good... The greatest clarity is profound silence.
battousai16 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 well, he said in an interview that he pretty much made up his own stuff for the movies. that, and he's not an instructor. he said in another interview that he'd like to be, but just dosen't have the time. Sasori_Te Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 At the risk of hi-jacking this post I want to get in on this litle side conversation. I saw an interview with Jackie Chan and he said that he has no formal martial arts training. He was trained in the Chinese theatre as a classical actor. This is where he said that he learned how to do stunts and his own martial arts moves. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
thaiboxerken Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Chinese opera IS a martial art entertainment system. Much of it is derived from authentic martial arts, they just don't really learn how to apply it in real fights. Jackie is quick enough and trains hard enough that I think he could probably hold his own. I also think I heard him in an interiew where he said that he did train in some kickboxing. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
47MartialMan Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Chan Kong Sang was raised into the Chinese opera school. It had mixed an performance of fighting and dance. In the 1600's, much of the fighting was hidden within the "theatre", from martial artists seeking refuge from the Manchus. And Chan Kong Sang did study Chinese martial arts.
battousai16 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 i knew he's also had private instruction in wing chun as well. but i also know that he dosen't consider himself a martial artist, rather a stunt man. so there you have it. battousai16 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 he trained with leung ting at some point or other... not exactly sure when... i'm sure you can find that around. he's said he calls himself a stunt man over a martial artist several times, i really don't keep tabs on interviews. you can probably find that, too, he says it a lot.
