Rick
I can't think of any more than that... Sevenstar might think of some more. 47MartialMan
Ok, I have always though it had some type of benefits. I just wanted to see others that maybe I had not thought of.
Rick
Hmm, well, if u think about it, the constant punching and stuff like that works the shoulders, cos my shoulders ALWAYS burn after i do it - and throwing a lot of kicks tends to tone my stomach and obliques as well as my legs... I mean, not as well as possible the weight training would do, but there's a lot of benefits there for 10 minutes or so of shadow boxing. GhostlySykanRyu
I shadow box daily as well, best for warming up, stretching, and cooling down. To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
47MartialMan
There is nothing "wrong" with it. In some cases, something is better than nothing.
Sandhoppa
So is shadow boxing basically imagining an opponent in front of you and then practicing your moves? Rick
Well, yeah essentially u could see it as that.... Yeah pretty much... Some people just execute the techniques and bounce around without worrying about the imaginary person.... But yeah that's pretty much what it's about. Sort of like a random and adlibbed form of kata. SevenStar
I think what we've stated so far is basically the gist of it - it's just another training tool, like anything else.
Rick
Yep, it's as valid as any other training method...
