Sparring Advice

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a good tapes or DVDs on sparring? My instructor isn’t really fond of it. I’ve been training for almost 8 years in Kuk Sool Won and I personally feel that if I were to spar against say a TWD person or someone on the street, I maybe in trouble unless they got close to me. (Kuk Sool Techniques) I’m a big person 6”3” 260lbs and I’m no Cung or Jet Lee, le. Their others in my class, faster and can “fly”. Spin kicks, Ax kicks can all be seen by your average sized person. I just want to be able to “handle” them with no worries. Size intimidates nobody these days.

haha you sound more like a Bolo Yeung to me(bloodsport, return of the dragon,shootfighter...basically hes a BIG martial artist).

Remember this..if your opponent is stronger than you,you must be faster,if your opponent is faster than you,you must be smarter. They maybe fast and be flying in the air,but your the more experience fighter,u can spot blind spots on them more quickly than they could on you.plus whenever they do flying kicks, jsut do a front snap kick n send them tumbling.

''I know what your thinking.........did I shoot you 3 times? or did I shoot you 472 times?''

You have been in a martial art for 8 years and the instructor isn't fond if it? Or is he not fond of you in doing this particular phase? Perhaps, he may have a fear that you may hurt someone? this sounds a bit strange.

If you lived near me, I'll hook you up with more sparring than you can handle. Better than a book or video.
