dear john Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 im looking for a book that will help me relax and find my center. i dont want some book telling me to light candles or anything and none of that herbal stuff, just something that will a good way to relax. sometimes i find my center, but it is hard to find my way back. some times i will be in this state of mind that i have no worries and everything is perfect, i feel like nothing can hurt me because i somehow am nothing, like maybe im on another level. if this makes since to you. the funny thing is that i know im wrong and i know your right, yet you keep argueing like it will change my mind. you should really know, you dont have to be right to win:)
Croy Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 if that is how you actually feel while meditating, sounds to me like you need no help, your doing fine, your far above my level, i have trouble keeping an empty mind. but one of my favorite books is by Koichi Tohei and is the Book of Ki, he doesn't really go into methods for meditation, more about different excersises to develope and extend your ki, hope this helps 1st Dan CTF TaekwondoShodan Tomiki Ryu Aikido
Master Jules Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Sounds like youre doing fine already...... ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
Hudson Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 The Ashida Kim ninja series... That was a joke. You're doing great. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
Sunrunner Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 look for a meditation group in your area, you might not only get a teacher, but you'll be able to ask questions that you wouldn't be able to with a book Sunrunner"train until the art becomes an artless art, flowing from the unconscious."
markusan Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I've read literally hundreds of books on meditation, but I agree with the other posters, just keep doing what you're doing, join a group or go see a buddhist teacher. If I spent as much time meditating as I do reading I'd be much further along the path. Focus on your breath going in and your breath going out. Each time you get distracted just gently bring your attention back to the breath, and the rest will happen/ One way to "find your centre" consistently is to focus on the happy feeling you get when you give yourself time to sit quietly. Tell yourself "this is my time" and think about smiling.
Zhong Gau Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 sounds like you have achieved WU WEI already. don't worry about learning somebody else's mistakes. Ah! Mantis Grasshopper, i think you would do very nicely on a bowl of rice!
VinnieDaChin Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 i have a book full of blank pages if you want to buy it from me.
