JEM618 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I like to live in reality. 'Just kick them they'll understand' That says it all about the reality you live in... To that I might add: Then out of nowhere, the guy you just kicked pulls out a knife and stabs you in the throat, and while you lay there on the ground trying to breath, choking on your own blood, his buddy pulls out a gun and shoots you in the back of the head. Read the newspaper. Sound like you go to that evil 'Cobra Kai' karate school from those Karate Kid movies.
thaiboxerken Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Wait, because I don't believe in the supernatural, I'm a Cobra Kai type of martial artist? LOL. You don't like my signature, but then again, you probably missed the point of it. It's not about attacking people, but the importance of action over words. JEM618 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I am not talking about ANYTHING supernatural. As I stated in another post, in medieval times hard scientific facts that could not be explained were thought to be acts of God or works of the devil. We now know what causes thunder and lightning, it can be explained with science. No need to worry about getting the gods angry and getting struck by lightning. If I told you in the martial art I practice we practice the principles of static and fluid tension you would probably say, 'Hmmm, interesting, tell me more' or Hmmm I clearly understand the scientific principal of that but I don't see the practical application in fighting.' At that point, depending on what you said, the discussion could end or continue in an intelligent manner. But, when the word ‘ki’ is mentioned, your mind closes tightly like a fist and you keep babbling the same stuff. Fine, I was not put on this earth to make you understand, or try to convince you. If you don’t believe it, don’t and get off the subject. These threads are for people who want to discuss it in an open, intelligent manner. Have respect for other’s ideas and opinions. You can always start a new thread; ‘I don’t understand ‘ki’ and I don’t want to try, and I want to remain ignorant. Then all the people that agree with you can post ‘Me, too.’ And you’ll be happy knowing there are others out there like you.
thaiboxerken Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Someone stated ki as being a "natural energy" that all people have inside of them. This particular energy is non-evident. What else is there to understand? Sasori_Te Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 thaiboxerken, that is where you would be wrong. Bioelectricity has been measured in a laboratory. Your nerves won't work without it. I have a question for you. If Chi/ki is such a joke, why are Western medical professionals referring their patients to acupuncturists and people that practice holistic healthcare? I had a car accident and had chronic neck pain from a whiplash. My doctor couldn't do anything but subscribe me pain medication. He recommended that I try acupuncture from an acquaintence of his. After 2 sessions I haven't had another twinge of pain from my neck. Don't knock it completely if you know absolutely nothing about it. Do some research. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
thaiboxerken Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 "If Chi/ki is such a joke, why are Western medical professionals referring their patients to acupuncturists and people that practice holistic healthcare? " It a procedure that has very little overhead and helps to cure people of psychosematic symptoms. "Bioelectricity has been measured in a laboratory." Two different things. If you can show me how a person can harness bioelectricity, then maybe you can convince me that they are the same things. "He recommended that I try acupuncture from an acquaintence of his. After 2 sessions I haven't had another twinge of pain from my neck" Ever think that time healed your neck from pain and the acupuncture simply worked a placebo effect to temporarily distract you from that pain? JerryLove Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 It a procedure that has very little overhead and helps to cure people of psychosematic symptoms. Tazers function with very small electric charges. Pressur-point knock-outs work (wheather they work in fights is a different an irrellevent side-topic). Massage and accupresure work (I use the latter and others pretty regularly, it's not psycosematic). Why is it not possible (even likely) that little needles with incense would have a real effect? https://www.clearsilat.com
47MartialMan Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 No use thaiboxerken-because of subliminally, you are not going to convince people that Have it in their "mind" that KI?CHI does not exist. It is like trying to prove to Christians or others that Christ or God did not exist. Part of my reasoning (KI?Chi) has to deal with my background as a performing magician. In a magicians guild, we discuss this all of the time. Even on occasion, in the past, went to such demos and proved otherwise. And so far as to "prop" the same demos. So far, I have not found it to exist. Notice the words so far and found.

Tazers have a high voltage and low current, it's hardly a "small electric charge", more of a non-lethal hard punch of voltage. Pressurepoint KO's work..... I doubt it, is there any science on this? Massage and acupressure work on a placebo level. Your testimonial is not scientific evidence. Needles and incense....it's possible that it could work, but there is no evidence to support the notion that they do.
