Bubishi~

Recommended Posts

MasterJules,

Are there more than one english translation of the Bubishi? If yes. Is there one that you recommend more than the others?

Wing Chun Kuen Man

Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one?

I'm pretty sure that there are two different books referred to as Bubishi. The one that you are referring to is one that has been handed down from teacher to student. The student hand copies his teacher's text. This is different from the thirtry volume set and is not a condensed version of it.

Patrick McCarthy has a very good translation of the Bubishi.

For the later, he is a good author.

I have that book and many others (not only from him)

The most favorable books I like seem to come from Tuttle Publications

I met Master McCarthy back in January of this year, and was fortunate enough to have conversation with him. He truly is a scholar, and an absolute gentleman as well.

Wow, I would have liked to...

To have my books, magazines, movies, other items related to MA, a long list was prepared for insurance.

The total, 3 years ago was at $6725.00 and some change. (The books and mags alone totaled near $3,000)

I have been "following" Master McCarthy for some time.

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, they host the Action Martial Arts Magazine Black Belt Hall of Fame induction awards every year at the Tropicana. Got to https://www.actionnetworks.net or https://www.theactionarena.com for more info.....Im sure Master McCarthy is there every year. I met him this year during my induction.

Nothing that I know of, but I will tell you that this thing is huge....people from all over the entire country come for a 3 day event. It was amazing how many thousands of people were there.
