Hand attack while in air (both feet must be off the ground) directed to mid sectionHand attack while in air (both feet must be off the ground) directed to mid section A hand attack at the midsection while both feet are off the ground? How the heck do you do that??? If both feet are in the air, aren't you jumping? And if jumping, how are you hand attacking your opponents midsection? tufrthanu
A flying punch to a forward shoulder roll might give you that area. Long Live the Fighters!
manuelito
croy, i am surprised that you need tips on this subject, considering that you are in a ctf school. traditionally ctf schools are very sparring oriented. who is your instructor? and is your first tournament going to be the ctf nationals? anyway the best tip i can give you is don't get hit. point sparring is usually a counter attacking game. try and be a little more on the defensive side. good luck pain is weakness leaving the body.fear is the mind killer, i will face my fear and let it pass threw me. from the movie "dune"i know kung fu...show me. from the movie "the matrix"
Croy
yeah, we are defenitely sparring oriented, at least 20mins a day. I have a friend who won nationals a few years back so i also go to him for advice, he was telling me that the whole sparring environment is different when your fighting for "keeps". my instuctor never announces or advertises any tournaments, so just recently i made contact with another instructor who is now sending me the flyers. i know 1st degree isn't exactly the best time to start tournys, but ya gotta start somewhere. and i believe nationals are in march in philadelphia this year aren't they? i'll be there for sure, i just want some tourny experience before hand 1st Dan CTF TaekwondoShodan Tomiki Ryu Aikido
Kicks
point sparring is usually a counter attacking game. I'm not a point sparrer (spl?), but I always thought that the advantage went to the first hit, so it was better to be a quick attacker, not counter attacker. One of my friends has a daughter who excells in her point sparring school and he tells me that the style enforces the 'sucker punch' or kick. Any discussion on this? when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
Croy
yeah, from what i've seen, seems like the backhand and the defensive sidekick seem to be the "quick points". ayone that fights real offensive have any favorite "blitz combos"? 1st Dan CTF TaekwondoShodan Tomiki Ryu Aikido
okc_deputy16
All that you need to know is that a side kick and a backfist will win everytime it's not about how good your spin kicks are or how fast you may be. In point sparring stick to the basics it will win everytime.
