judoguy Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 It's not exactly a reverse triangle -- he doesn't have the arm. It's more of a rear naked choke with the legs. (Yeah, obviously the figure 4 is there, but it's a little different). It looks like it might put more pressure on the jaw than anything. Eye of the tiger: If you ever, ever, get someone over 12 years old to tap to a body scissors of any sort, THEN tell us about it. Your exactly right, it's not a reverse triangle it's a variation of yoko sankaku jime or scissors choke. With this choke you don't need the persons arm to serve as the aid for the choke because the crook of the back of your knee is the base and your lower leg and calf region put the pressure on the carotid in effect making it like a naked choke with the leg. It can be apllied from several positions in combination with an armbar for a really nasty effect. (Edit: It's not called yoko sankaku jime. It's called hasami jime. It's a relic of JJJ.) I'm only going to ask you once...
Kreisi Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 If your in a match scissors are good against tired opponents. if you hang on tightly he will waste a lot of energy trying to get you off (only my opinnion) What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
Eye of the Tiger Posted December 18, 2004 Author Posted December 18, 2004 They don't work hey??? The guy in the UFC one by a triangle scissors to the body! Check out UFC 51. Ivan Salaverry vs Tony Fryklund "Middleweight Ivan Salaverry (9-3-1) of Seattle, Wash., made a triumphant return to UFC action and defeated popular Miletich fighter Tony Fryklund (11-4-0) of Las Vegas, Nev., by tap out with a body lock at 1:36 of the first round. Salaverry got a quick advantage with a right hand strike to the forehead and a left kick to the head. As Fryklund fell, Salaverry engaged the lock." http://www.mma-fighter.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6620 http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterID=1351 What do you think now!?
JohnnyS Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 And? The point is, squeezing your legs around the guys waist is a waste of time. You are much better off learning how to do a decent submission. What part of this is hard to understand?
