Matousek Posted September 13, 2004 Author Posted September 13, 2004 Yah whats with cops? They dont really mind about knives, but if you have to sticks chained together, they raise Hell! "Knowledge is Power!"~Matousek~Martial Arts
White Warlock Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 It's not necessarily the cops, as it is the laws in a given area. They are there to enforce said laws, regardless of how stupid, outdated, or extreme those laws may be. Matousek Posted September 13, 2004 Author Posted September 13, 2004 Yah your right. Earlier in the century,Husbands were allowed to beet there old lady with a stick,as long as it wasnt larger in diameter then there pinky. This does not apply to today, but there are stupid laws. battousai16 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 actually, it was the width of your thumb, hence the term, "rule of thumb". and, in all fairness, the police will hold a different view of a 40 year old man who's been around here all his life with a pen knife than the punky looking young teenage boy with nunchaku in his seat, ya know? you can't really blame him. stats say i'm dangerous, it's probably safer for the police. Matousek Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 Yah, I didnt look at it that way... "Knowledge is Power!"~Matousek~Martial Arts
tommarker Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 rule of thumb... you can't do much with that. should have been rule of wrist laws are often passed as a way to pacify idiots. Most nunchaku laws come from the 70s, a time when bruce lee was tearing people up with them, and it probably was a popular weapon for some time afterwards (although most people probably managed to hurt themselves more than others) The same thing applies to switchblades, which are no more dangerous than regular knives or butterfly knives. Nothing more than "feel good" measures that only the good guys obey anyways. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
Shorin Ryuu Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 rule of thumb... you can't do much with that. should have been rule of wrist ;. Boondock Saints...what an excellent movie... Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
Matousek Posted September 17, 2004 Author Posted September 17, 2004 Well a stick the diameter of your thumb wouldnt do much damage, unless it was hardwood. "Knowledge is Power!"~Matousek~Martial Arts
battousai16 Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 well, see, that's why the law was instated... cuz, well, to many women were being beaten to death for not having dinner done in time or something... so in order to avoid that.... y'know, enough to really hurt, but not kill the poor woman... crazy weird laws...
