Black Belts and higher can wear black collar, and poom belts can wear the black/red and for any other color for a collar, that would be soley reliant upon the school.

Poom (black & red) are worn by young black belts that wear a matching red and black belt until they are 16, then they get a black belt.

obviously it all depends on your style of martial art - and i guess some do jangs would have sprcific requirments.

in soo bahk do the standard (recognised internationally) is

white belts - no trims

orange belts - no trims

green belts - trim around lapel only

red belts - trim around lapel only

dans - trim on lapel and cuffs and around bottom of jacket

another interesting one (i'm sure it's been covered before) is that we don't have 'black belts' - our equivilents are called Dans and we wear midnight blue, not black.

For us,

I understand that the WTF decides that only red belts and red/black belt are able to use red necs, and black belts are able to use black necs. The rest of us, mortals, plain white

Too keep it in perspective,... in the Korean arts prior to the late 60s, there were generally only 4 belts in the traditional korean arts,...

White

Green

Red (or Brown)

Black (or Midnight Blue)

Dan rankings were given full trim, green and red partial trim. Yellow and orange belts were add-ons to white belt...
