TropicalStorm Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Toas Kung fu was featured in Budo international magazine, and something I thought was interesting about the style was the fact that they didn't use a belt system or sashed for rank. From there I went to the website and thought the school had an even more straightforward approach to training. Master Safakhoo has created a system, it seems, of challenging training he teaches people. The school even has a workout called pain resistance, is this real or what? Supposedly you can make your body like steel? Are these people elite martial artists even though they have not been trained in a commonly known style? Maybe you should go look before you reply, because I am curious about other people's opinions. TOASKUNGFU.COM Rainy
Rotten Head Fok Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Hi, welcome to Karate Forums ! My PC is not the greatest so waiting for the entire page was toooo much. I've never heard of this style so I cannot comment on it, however my style as well as others have a workout called "pain resistance." In CLF we call it Horse Stance Training... Making your body like steel has been around for a long time with no other secret than daily, consistant, training. Belts or Sashes are not that old, so that is not suprizing. Are they "elite" ? I have no idea, but the word suggest the best or most powerful of a group. Which group ? no clue. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
aefibird Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 however my style as well as others have a workout called "pain resistance." In CLF we call it Horse Stance Training... RHF, I totally agree... my karate instructor seems to take Kibadachi (Horse Stance) training to its ultimate level of pain resistance training. "Was it really worth it? PhDPeddler Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Is this not "Iron Skin"? I have also never heard of this style but that does not mean that it is not good for you.
