Iron Arahat
You may see San Shou before any others as the host country is allowed to introducae a demonstation sport. Korea did this with Tae Kwon Do. Bejjing in 2008 may do this with Wushu. I personally find american rules boring...should just stick to Tae Kwon Do then... TOMMY BEE
I agree that China may get Sanshou into the Olympics in 2008 and I hope that is true. I am also aware of the fact that Greece is hosting the Olympivs in 2004 and they are working very hard to add kickboxing when they host them as well. When you say that having different styles can't work is just not true as everywhere that I have travelled the most sucessfull events are usually the ones that showcase different styles. I showcase all full contact styles on my events and the crowd loves it (Ring Of Fire kickboxing ). They also have all of the above mentioned styles above except for Sanshou in the World championships and it is extremely sucessful. I hope that they add Sanshou in the future as It was my origional fighting style,And I just returned from Cung le's show in California.By the way there where over 65 countries and 1,000 athletes at the world Championships in 2001. The style with the most athletes competing was Full contact above the waiste with sweeps and no spinning back fist allowed. Many of the athletes compete in different styles and it is A very posative envirement for all. tommybeeatafc@yahoo.comhttps://www.ringoffirekickboxing.com
ramcalgary
My point is to try and get one style of rules into the olys will be hard enough as much as i would like to see all styles in. The key is to get all of the major promoters and sanctioning bodies together to call up with a single proposal to show the oly committee. The PKA was established on tv and was very audience loyal. The only problem I see with leg kicks, knee strikes and the like are that the general public finds that type of fighting dirty. If Olympic Kickboxing is addded how will it avoid the horrible decisions that have plagued amateur boxing n the games. taezee
tommy...how you doin..the point i was trying to make is that some sports fighting has a public opinion formed about them by either tv coverage or poorly sponsored live events..so when people say things like korean fighters cannot really fight..or kickboxers cant really kick..its a generalization..i know better ive seen and done both..as for fighting or training with you i may take you up on that..please contact me at taezee@yahoo.com..if you know about taekwondo on long island then you will know of my school and master..american taekwondo center in brentwood..master atef himaya..who recently moved to florida..i am his senior student..and currently have transferred to world taekwondo in central islip..if you reread my post again youll see i was really saying what people may precieve and not necessarily my opinion on kickboxing ive seen good fighters and know fighters who will clean my clock..any way ..so now youve heard of me and i look foward to hearing from you..javier _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york instructor taekwondo/hapkido "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2001-12-19 21:37 ] Javier l Rosario instructor taekwondo/hapkidounder master Atef s Himaya"whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your *"
TOMMY BEE
Hey Javier, I am not trying to pick on you but I know very well that the negativity in the sport from within is probably our largest obstacle. We need to work on showcasing the talent in the sport more instead of being negative. I am sorry but I still do not know your teacher but I do not deal with traditional styles much any more unless they are involved with full contact fighting sports .I am friends with Raymond from Pro Form fitness and kickboxing which is A Taekwondo stylist in brentwood which use to have some ameteur fighters A long time ago and I actually use to use his gym to trian in on Saturdays when I first turned pro because I did not have A ring to train in except for boxing. You mentioned that you fought both in Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Where did you Kickbox ? Who was it for ? If you are interested in you or your students fighting on our shows we are always interested in new schools and fighters getting into the sport.Or If you are interested in trainning with me or just getting some sparring in for you or your students you can E Mail me. tommybeeatafc@yahoo.comhttps://www.ringoffirekickboxing.com
