opnek Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Any kenpoists out there? Cheers.-There are no pure styles of karate. Luckykboxer Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 you line cracks me up... Ed Parker was talking to my instructor once, and his version is a bit different. My instructor was asking for Mr. Parkers take on Kenpo and Kempo.... and Mr. Parker simply said.. " Barry, when pure Knuckles meet pure flesh thats pure kenpo, no matter how you spell it"
TheDevilAside Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Hooah! I practice Kenpo, even though I'm quitting my training for a 6 months or so because of school. "If you're going through hell, keep going." - Sir Winston Churchill
Rich_2k3 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Isnt kempo just another style of karate, this should be in the karate section. "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee

delta1 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Isnt kempo just another style of karate,... Forgive him, guys. I'm sure he didn't know what he was saying! AKTS & IKCA. Freedom isn't free!
opnek Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 It was given the moniker "Karate" so people would have a basic idea that Kenpo was a fighting art. In truth it isnt Karate at all. Its a hybrid fighting art based on scientific principles, specifically the study of motion. Its incredibly brutal and effective in real world scenarios. Blinding hand speed, locks, joint manipulation, grappling, throws, etc are all common to Kenpo. I took "Karate" for 6 months, and this is not Karate. Cheers.-There are no pure styles of karate.
