Drunken Monkey
But its origin is from India is this about the use of it in the older chinese characters? i have no idea about that. just thought i'd mention it's appearance in the written language. the character in question is something to do with money. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." law hon gung
while war and revolution transformed 20th century china, archaeologists were probing the nations roots. up came hard evidence of the seemingly mythical shang dynasty-and bronze age culture no one had dreamed of. during the excavation.a bronze temple bell was unearthed with this diagram engraved around its circumference, when i first started training with the late shi gong cheng in san fran he had drawn this diagram to help aid in the learning of his families workout forms, the box represents the foot work and the lines extending off the cornners are attackers coming in,teaching how to defend from a four directional attack.this is a very basic training app,but eather way its the same diagram and the temple bell has been on display around the country,i saw it in seattle wash. Chen Buddhist sutras tend to dimiss some of this. There were Chinese Martial BEFORE Shaolin. There were rebel fighters that sought sanctuary in Shaolin. Those taught monk disciples also. Drunken Monkey
it's also been said that some of the rebels/rebellion actually started in the temple as opposed to going to seek refuge in the temple. it's all generally very mixed up. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." Master Jules
Yes, thats true.....however.....when Bodidarma visited shaolin.....he found the monks to weak to be able to even sit in the proper meditative postures for these excersises.....thats when he went to the cave and meditated for 6 years, his chi supposedly so strong that he left a shadow on the wall of the cave......it was during this meditative state that he came up with a series of chi gung breathing excersises that facilitated health and strength in the monks, enabling them to begin the martial art training ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"

Scholars studying the old sutras explain that the ancient authors use metaphors. There are documents that explain he did give them exercise for the long hours of meditation. Much of my info is from the studying of Buddhism, its sutras, and origins. Imperial Japanese archives have a lot on "Bodi" also.
Master Jules
MM......as you know, this happened around the year 540, so Im sure that between now and then, the story has probably changed or been exagerrated in some way.....that can only be expected......who REALLY knows ????.....Im sure, however, that at the "REAL" Shaolin temple that he did visit, there are probably scrolls with the "REAL" story hidden away some where......whaddaya think ? ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
