ChicagoTaeKwonDo
In the 1980's, I earned a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do (Chang Moo Kwan). The dojang where I trained taught both the ITF and WTF Poomse, which included 8 Taeguk and 8 Palgwe forms. Twenty years later, I have begun training again. I am finding that Taeguk forms have largely fallen into disuse in favor of the 8 Palgwe forms, at least in dojangs in the Chicago area. I was just wondering if this was the case nationally and internationally. Thank you for any input.
Kicks
I mostly see the Taeguk forms being performed when I attend many USTU tournaments. The dojang I attend teaches taeguks, palgwe, and chang hom forms. We also learn a few pyung ahn forms. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
tkdcardshark
Same here. At my school they teach a blend of taeguk and palgwe.
karatekid1975
My dojang teaches the Taegeuk forms. I think they are the more popular forms in this area. Laurie F

ninjanurse
I have studied at 2 different WTF schools. One taught Palgwe, the other teaches Taeguek (both set were taught at one time but palgwes were dropped).
