gottalovet Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Hi I am interested in buying sparring gear to use during practice and tournaments. I was wondering which would be better, foam or vinyl? I want something that would last a long time and had good protective padding. Any suggestions? Please let me know asap. If you like u can email me also.
Rotten Head Fok Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I have sparred foam, I liked the padding at first, but they split, fell apart after a few months of use. (usually 3 times a week by adult size practitioners) You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
AngelaG Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 If you can afford it, get leather. Tokonkai Karate-do Instructorhttp://www.karateresource.com Kata, Bunkai, Articles, Reviews, History, Uncovering the Myths, Discussion Forum
aefibird Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I'd prefer vinyl over foam, but as AngelaG said, if you can afford it then go for leather. It'll last you MUCH longer than either vinyl or foam. Pacificshore Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I used both, and I think I prefer the vinyl Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
Shane Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 I'm going to tell you some of the best shin insteps are the fairtex pro style they are a little spending but they are built to last and your goint to have ultimate protection. Go with the pro style not the standard due to the bulk. if you can get away with regular kickboxing/boxing gloves fairtex is great but if you need to go with a more traditional style go Macho has some pretty good gear. But for intense training fairtex or even twins A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!!
