47MartialMan Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 So, best techniques to end a fight depends on the situation and how the law interputs it?
Sasori_Te Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I believe that it's interprets. And yes, if you have time to think about a situation before you jump into it, you had better consider the legal ramifications. At the very least, if your training comes to light in the court room, you can be charged with aggravated assault at the very least, if things don't go your way. I have all of my students look up the local codes on use of force and then require them to answer questions concerning specific scenarios. We also discuss how to view potential situations you might encounter outside the dojo. After all, it really does you no good if you successfully defend yourself from an attacker if you find a knife in your back from his girlfriend because she thought you were hurting her boyfriend (who happened to be assaulting her at the time). Or better, you get 10 years because you were found to have used excessive force trying to protect her and she testifies against you on an attempted murder charge. It's unfortunate the these things need to be thought of before you help someone but, we live in a very litigious society. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
47MartialMan Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 well, we all have some grammatical errors. I did not know this was a spelling bee competition.
Master Jules Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Id rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
47MartialMan Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Id rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. One of my instructors had often said that. Along with: "Do unto others BEFORE they do unto you"
Master Jules Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 always a better thing to GIVE than receive ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
wing chun kuen man Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 If everyone followed that philosophy there would be less thugs, bullies and criminals around in the world today and then what would our governments do to keep the general public in fear? Oh yes I forgot there are always birded "terrorists" to scare us with. Wing Chun Kuen Man Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one?
wing chun kuen man Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Whoops, that was bearded and not "birded". Sorry. Wing Chun Kuen Man Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one?
47MartialMan Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 My conclusion: The best ways to end a fight: 1.) Not BE in the fight to begin with. 2.) If you make it home, the best ending.
Master Jules Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Yep.....forget about tournaments....your * getting home in 1 piece is the trophy ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
