47MartialMan Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 i wouldn't imagine so traditionally, but one could certainly insert them. it dosen't even seem as though it would be difficult; just give them a sash after every form. y'know, not that i would, it's just that it could be done, and probably has been. But why....isnt the training enough for progression? Why add colored symbols and follow Korean and Japanese arts?
battousai16 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 why are you asking me? i just said it could be done. 'sides, it's not like it would be the first chinese style to add a color system, and i doubt it would be the first wing chun school, either. i assume it's in the same thought process of the "gold star" thing you see in kindergarten. a material reward for the people who don't quite get the point yet. and buy some food and pay the rent while you're at it. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
pvwingchun Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 No I have not been there. But as I said be wary of those of claim to have the truth and documentation as much as I respect the work they have done much of it is no more than speculation again. Just a different way of presenting them....... Wing Chun Kuen Alliancehttps://www.wing-chun.us

Just a different way of presenting them....... Very very true...... I agree. But then again, the moment someone comes along with different info, they are wrongly blamed. Others just keep re-writing and re-using the same as others. Copying what they read or heard and re-wording it.
Drunken Monkey Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Interesting, yet you give answers, commentary, and opinions so readily perhaps you would like me to act all high and mighty and mysterious? i give answers according to what i know; according to what i know to be 'true' or perhaps 'more true' than something else. if i did not think it to be so, i wouldn't say anything. or i might throw a little question into the debate. this is of course, ignoring the times when someone says something that is outright wrong. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."

How can you judge what IS wrong? To judge, in this way, means to be biased, boisterous, faultless, etc. When I asked about your age was not to judge your intellect. But as YOU get older, you WILL get wiser. As I HAVE learned, things that I used to believe were not totally accurate. There are some "Wrongs" in my life. I accept those and others in the future. Martial arts are like religion....everyone seems to have an Answer and Opinion. And you know the saying about "opinions".
Drunken Monkey Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 well, it depends on how you look at things. everything is either degrees of right or degres of wrong. it's kinda how the mind works. (that along with cognitive supposition...) you learn a 'truth'. later, you learn something that is more 'true'. this replaces the old, which in turn becomes untrue (or 'wrong'). i like to learn. in my mind everyonbe is wrong to a degree and so the opposite is also true; that everyone is right to a degree. when i see something that is in my view wrong, i will point that out and give why i see it as 'wrong'. (just as when i see something that i can make more right i will add my t'pence) after that it is up to you to decide if i was more right than you. anyway. this is of course, ignoring the times when someone says something that is outright wrong this was perhaps taken in the wrong context. i was refering to instances of fact like there is no proof of the five shaolin elders like bruce lee DID lose fights like karate does have grappling... you get the idea. there are facts out there and sometimes we have to recognise them just as we have to recognise where we might be wrong/mistaken. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."

Drunken Monkey Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 and well, i've learnt that sometimes it doesn't pay to beat around the bush. if you disagree with something it's sometimes best to just be blunt about it. if i believe something to be wrong then in my mind it is wrong and there is probably reason for my belief. but then i'm not disputing the problems with doing things this way but such is the inherent flaws in cognitive supposition: if even one little element in my thought train is wrong, be it a simple misunderstanding or mis-reading the intended tone, then all following comments i make are going to be wrong. but then again, that's the nature of debate. if we all skirt around saying 'yes you are right' without posing the notion that you might be 'wrong' (or perhaps just 'not quite right') then we might end up going in circles without you seeing the flaws that may exist in your opinion. if i am wrong i expect people to tell me. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
